QuickTimePlayerX-SC100x100.pngFREE Public Show

Most people don’t realise that their own Mac comes with a very powerful video application  in QuickTime or now QuickTime X now for Snow Leopard.

Using this for video (web formatted) exports and in combination with RapidWeaver has always been a quick way for publishing content.

Our show will cover what the web export does and then integrate it with a RapidWeaver stacks with our own commisioned stack by the team SymfoniP (yes they make the Flowbox Stack, and MP3 Stacks too).

Now of course this can play back pretty much any QuickTime / h.264 content that you have but only QuickTime has the ’save for web’ export option for  iPhone and the desktop

Enjoy the show,  ….. oh and did we mention that our Stack is available for free too … watch the show and then grab the stack.

Grab your FREE RapidWeaver stack for QuickTimeX.

    Hi there,
Just finished this tutorial but quicktime will open a new window to play the file.
I thought that with the stack I will be able to play it integrated with that page display.
I also can’t see the play button on the frame poster although when I mouse over it shows that there’s a link.
I was trying for an alternative to flow player stack since it stopped working.
Any idea what is going on?
    Thank you another great tutorial.

    Hi there Joe
The Stack is built with exactly the same components as you would use in QuickTime ‘Save for Web’. We have found that some themes with jquery and any additional variable manipulation does not like this QuickTime stuff, as I said only some themes are affected by this. You do know there is FlowBox [http://symfonip.com/store] with Flowplayer integrated that could be worth a look too ?

Great tutorial. But having trouble installing. Can not find a stacks folder anywhere in my system to put install this.

    Hi there
Do you have the Stacks [http://yourhead.com] plugin installed ? once that is installed there will be a stacks folder :)

  5. Mari - says:

You would think. It is installed and working. Have the download icon (drive) and the lego icon which is acting as a folder, but which can not be modified. No other folder with the word “stacks” in my system.

Reinstalled and it magically appeared. Thanks for the lead on the Quicktime stack…

  7. Mark - says:

Great tutorial and stack but unfortunately it doesnt with with the theme I have chosen (Rebellion or Mirage) as none of the quicktime player controls appear… I guess the jQuery stuff in the theme doesnt mix with Quicktime?

is there any way round this??? would you suggest a different way to embed a movie?

  8. Barry - says:

I’m having trouble installing it. I have Stacks installed and working fine, but I haven’t been able to get the Quicktime stack installed. I don’t see a Stacks folder either. What am I missing??

  9. Maria - says:

Great tutorial! I have Stacks installed and have followed the video step by step…but when I open my RW page and add a stack page to the site I don’t see the Quicktime Stack. What am I doing wrong?

  10. Larry Pollock - says:

Make sure that the Stack is installed.

    Check this folder:

User (your name) > Libraray > Application Support > Rapidweaver > Stacks

Restart RW and all should be fine if the stack is in this location. When you double click on a stack to install it you must restart RW for it to recognize the stack

You can manually create a “stacks” folder in this location if you need to, but usually Rapidweaver will create on when you install the Stacks Plugin. You might try double clicking on the stacks plugin again and restarting RW.

The issue is with the prototype.js file that Apple uses for Quicktime embedding. It conflicts with jQuery. I will chat with our resident “guru” on this and see if maybe a cast on getting js libraries to play will together would be in order.

    Hi Larry:

Thanks for your help…I do have the folder in the sequence you described above. But no Quicktime option :-(

  14. Ellis - says:

Great tutorial, but I can’t find anywhere to download the plug-in! Was it taken down? I’d love to have this for RapidWeaver!

Thanks for any info! Hope I’m not just being woefully unobservant.

  15. Larry Pollock - says:

    It’t in the Free Stuff – http://symfonip.com/store/freestuff.html

  16. Ronnie Stern - says:

where can I download this stack?

  17. admin - says:

The link is now operational again

  18. Alan - says:

Hi, I installed Ouicktime X Stack but I don’t get the JS Controller option? Could you please let me know what I may have got wrong during the installation.

  19. Kevin - http://SupportCasts.com says:

    Alan
There is an issue with some jquery enabled themes that cause an issue with the Apple Header js scripts . Have you installed the header scripts and stack . Send a link to your page to verify

  20. Michael Temkin says:

Hi, apparently my theme also is not happy with it as there are no controls and it opens a new page. I’m using the “Exposure” theme…

  21. admin says:

You should check out the symVideo5 Stack that covers this and more with better support for browsers that do not support HTML 5
