FreeStacks – Using Custom Images

FreeStack ThemeWelcome our second video tutorial in the FreeStack Theme/System.

In this screencast we are going to look at the “how-to’s” of adding our own custom images to the Theme’s Content package so that they can be used within our design. Ensuring that we follow the proper course of action will make the images work easily from the variations/options that the theme provides us with.

Again, if you are a FreeStack end user, please take the time to join the Google Group that Charlie has setup. It’s an excellent way to get support for your questions and to share your knowledge with others.

FreeStacks – Public Overview

FreeStack ThemeThis video tutorial provides a short “overview” of what you get when you purchase the FreeStack Theme from Blueball Design.

We also pay a visit to the FreeStack site where you can get information about the product and learn a bit about the background of this RapidWeaver Theme concept.

And, the release of this screencast is the official start to individual video tutorials that will cover the details of the FreeStack system.

If you are already a FreeStack Theme user please take the time to join the Google Group that Charlie, from Blueball Design, has set up.

The ImageRoundr Stack – Free Public Video

ImageRoundr StackImageRoundr is StackManiac’s second Stack release. Once again, a big SupportCast welcome to the Stack Developer group.

ImageRoundr does just what the name of the Stack indicates. This video tutorial was done using the latest update from Aaron, so if you already own this Stack and the HUD looks different, you need to get the update.

Join me as I review ImageRoundr and show you how easy you can add rounded borders to the images on your website.

The GrayScale Stack – Free Public Video

GrayScale StackHere’s a nice little Stack from a new Stacks Developer – Aaron Marquez – over at StackManiac.

GrayScale allows you to add an image to the Stack and apply a transition that renders the image, upon hover, to go from black and white to color or you can choose for the image to go from color to black and white.

The Stack is very easy to use. The HUD is short and simple. So join me as I review one of StackManiac’s first releases.

Flex EZ Menu – Next Steps

Flex EZ Meun StackFlex EZ Menu is so much more than a great way to build your RapidWeaver website project’s navigation. It has the flexibility to include images and image galleries. Add video. Include inline content. And power up your tooltips.

For this screencast I not only used Flex EZ Menu, but I also use the Pretty Photo Stack and the Tooltips Stack that are both available from RWExtras. As a side note, you can use the Super Tooltip Stack with Flex EZ Menu.

Join me as I show you how easy you can get the same effects by using Flex EZ Menu.

In-line Styling

htmlIn this video tutorial we are going to learn about in-line styling. What it is and how you can use it within RapidWeaver for your design layout.

I will be using HTMchen, a free HTML editor from MyOwnApps. I also use LittleIpsum, another free application from the MacApp Store, that generates “dummy text”

In-line styling can provide you with more detailed control over the various elements of your page within the HTML tag(s) as opposed to a Styled Text page.

So get ready to enhance your skill set and learn another way you can code some creativity.

RapidWeaver Resources Course 4

RapidWeaver 5In this last class we are going to look at how to use a resource file in the custom CSS panel of RapidWeaver’s Page Inspector.

We are also going to discuss how a resource file has to be accessed if you create separate, or external, CSS files. We won’t create any external stylesheets as this tends to cover a more advanced topic that would be better covered in a separate set of lessons.

RapidWeaver Resources Course 3

RapidWeaver 5In this tutorial about Resources we are going to see where the resource folder publishes too.

Project File Documentation – Stacks

Stacks Plugin for RapidweaverIn first lesson about Project File Documentation we are going to learn about a specific Stack for use with a Stacks layout. That Stack is the Comments Stack available from Will Woodgate over at ThemeFlood.

The Comments Stack is a free Stack that allows us to post, or attach, notes in our Stacks project file. As you will learn from this video tutorial it can prove useful to have notes for how we’ve chosen to build various Stacks areas of our website.

Project File Documentation – Overview

RapidWeaver 5Welcome to my first course of 2011.

I want to explore and educate RapidWeaver users on a variety of ways that we can document our project files. Now I know that this may not seem important on the surface but keeping notes within the project file can help us keep track of the things we are doing as we develop websites.

This documentation can prove useful for project files that we have, or need, to share with others developers, or for a team project. They can also prove useful for that project that you created in the past and have to revisit in the future.
