Most people don’t realise that their own Mac comes with a very powerful video application  in QuickTime or now QuickTime X now for Snow Leopard.

Using this for video (web formatted) exports and in combination with RapidWeaver has always been a quick way for publishing content.

Our show will cover what the web export does and then integrate it with a RapidWeaver stacks with our own commisioned stack by the team SymfoniP (yes they make the Flowbox Stack, and MP3 Stacks and now HTML 5 Video plugins and stacks).

VideoMonkey videos wait & download before playing

Since we started talking about and using VideoMonkey in some screencasts , we started to hear of problems of video playback in the player of your choice. Common scenario you have created the movie, encoded with VideoMokey to (h264) AppleTV or iPhone format but the whole video has trouble playing in the flash player or you have to wait to download before playing in the flash player.

This is due to a problem with the ‘moov’ atom at the end of the video file ,Renaun Erickson wrote this small AIR app that moves the atom to the start of the file so it can be played out as soon as the player has buffered enough data.http://renaun.com/air/QTIndexSwapper.air

We have notified the developers at VideoMonkey about this, as visualhub did not do this ;)
Hope this has been of help to you

Flowplayer Overlay Stack released by symfonip

SymfoniP the team (editor: and one of the co-founders of supportcasts too ::chuckle::) behind the popular MP3 stack library have just released a new stack library that will make adding video with a lightbox super-simple in conjunction with the flash player from FlowPlayer and the RapidWeaver Stacks plug-in from YourHead.com.

Functionality:
- one-time configuration
- Adjustable Opacity and Colour of Overlay background
- Automatic Flash player for all mp4, m4v and FLV videos links, if that sounds to awesome just watch our video to learn more :)
- Autohide of Flash playback bar and full-screen option

As a special offer to all supportcasts visitors for the next 7 days till April 9th 2009, SymfoniP are offering a ‘WePayTheTax‘ discount code giving you a nice little discount off the purchase of this stack library, if you want to pick up the MP3 Stack at the same time the discount will apply only bundled with the Flowplayer Stack so there’s a double saving.

Easy MP4 files with VideoMonkey – free show

Over at SupportCasts we are heavy users of VisualHub in generating the iPhone and AppleTV versions of our screencasts, so it was real shame that VisualHub (Techspansion) closed their doors some months ago.
However, a lone developer has now taken over the code from VisualHub and has released this snappy little app VideoMonkey.

Currently at a 0.1 release, it already provides very impressive results in generating H264 AppleTV or iPhone/iPod Touch mp4 files for your web pages. More formats will follow in the future – we hope .
I should add that MP4 files are supported by FlowPlayer and other Flash players too . But this is a great plug for our small and basic FlowPlayer Stack Library that is on our site also :) Watch out for new developments on that front too from Kevin and Ronan at SymfoniP.

I put VideoMonkey through its encoding paces and provide some benchmark examples against iMovie 09 exports too in our show today. I think you will find the results are worth the extra step in your video export workflow, I’m not going to spoil it now :D

Grab the VideoMonkey package over at SourceForge to give it a test drive to create MP4 encosed files without any fuss.
I hope you enjoy this free show from the team at SupportCasts

Remember you can go full-screen too on this video and get this in our free and public iTunes feed. Not to be confused with the private feeds we have for members ;)
